On the 13 October 2017 the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel visited the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and became acquainted with the capabilities of the Bulgarian supercomputer AVITHOHOL, the most powerful computing resource in the region of Southeastern Europe.
