MKL

Intel® Math Kernel Library (Intel® MKL) is a highly optimized, extensively threaded, and thread-safe library of mathematical functions for engineering, scientific, and financial applications that require maximum performance.

MKL is provided on Avitohol. MKL provides highly optimized implementations of (among others) .

• LAPACK/BLAS routines,

• direct and iterative solvers,

• FFT routines,

• ScaLAPACK.

Parts of the library support thread or distributed memory parallelism. By setting the environment variable MKL_MIC_ENABLE to 1, e.g., by

MKL_MIC_ENABLE=1

in bash shell, one can enable the automatic offload of some library routines to the Xeon Phi coprocessors that are available.
